The shortage of organs and tissues of human origin available for transplantation has led to studies examining alternative experimental solutions, such as xenotransplantation. Recommendation of the Hellenic National Bioethics Commission – “Mitochondrial Replacement to avoid Mitochondrial Diseases”

The Hellenic National Bioethics Commission issued a Recommendation containing reservations as to the use of mitochondrial DNA due to lack of adequate experimentation.
